31+ Films in 31 Days 2013 List by Greg

Yes, its the best time of the year. Pumpkins, changing of the season and Horror/Halloween films, just a few of the many great things about October. The films being what to discuss here. The now annual 31+ Films in 31 Days has begun. Posting a day late, because of all the excitement. As per usual more than half the films viewed  (16 or more) should be new and final score being on average a 6 or higher, this prevents too much garbage.
Also adding a new twist this year with sub-genres of horror (25) and Decades of horror.
So, to keep things lively, watch a film from each sub-genre and decade, this way it will also broaden the viewing experience and prevent stacking on one sub-genre or decade, ie. Slasher/80's.

Had a great month in reflection. 57 films is indeed a fair amount of films to watch in 31 days. Some films scored maybe a little higher than they are, for one of two reasons. Caught me in a good mood or for personal favorite seasonal film. Plus I'm generous.
I've asked myself over the last few days as I saw that number of total films grow, will I match it next year. I don't know, but it was a lot of fun. Didn't do the Mega Friday the 13th Marathon like I proposed last year, opted for the Nightmare series, since I am less familiar.
Adding the new restrictions or goals, benefited me, until the few days when I realized I was lacking. But, it kept things lively, so I wasn't stuck in a certain era or sub-genre. It does restrict, but that keeps it fresh. If the 57 films were more all similar sub genre, I think I would have felt more burnt out. Instead, I could keep going, I actually think I could go another month.
But, alas I'm not. I accomplished a fun, yearly activity.
Although with that being said. I did utilize the month of April this year as a horror film filled month.
So, we'll see if next April I do the same and then I can say its every six months. Or I'm just on a film high right now and I'm dreading the low.

31 Days of Halloween 2013

My annual ritual of watching at least (but not limited to) one horror/holiday-themed movie for every day of the month. The original rules are to watch at least 16 films I have never seen each year and to keep the average score above 6 (forces me to not watch only garbage titles). This year I am adding three new challenges to keep it fresh and exciting: countries, genres, and decades.
